As a member of the Front End Development team, you will create sophisticated web applications for prominent high traffic websites. We like to build things using the best technologies for the job, following standards, proper documentation and test driven development. You will work on a range of challenging projects with leading edge clients such as Kraft, Mitsubishi, Reebok and Disney.

You will be involved in all stages of development of the project, including ideation, technical specifications and prototypes, application architecture and data models, testing, coding, releases management and deployment. You will also have the ability to explore new technologies and improve the way the development team works.

Responsibilities

• Development of responsive and elegant cross-platform functionality for web applications using front-end technologies;
• Working with complex designs, develop fully functioning websites;
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with design team, content specialists, and back-end development teams;
• Implement complex creative concepts within a responsive-design framework;
• Participate as a member of an agile development team providing guidance around user interface design and implementation;
• Contribute to and drive user-centered designs and support user research and usability testing;
• Write well-documented and re-usable modules; execute peer reviews, providing positive and constructive input and suggestions;
• Use the newest web technologies, ‘bending’ existing web technologies to accomplish new things;
• Research new technologies and approaches to address business needs and improve existing systems.

Minimum Requirements

• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
• Must have experience in:
  • Frontend: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, LESS
  • Software: Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Backend: Python, Django
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • OS: Ubuntu Linux and OS X
  • Web server: Gunicorn with Nginx or Apache and Lighttpd
  • Version control: Subversion and Git
• Demonstrated superior HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript skills; ability to write semantic, standards-compliant front-end code
• 3+ years of experience developing mobile devices using media queries
• Strong experience experience with popular JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, underscore.js, backbone.js
• Experience building accessible, standards compliant websites
• Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Possess a highly creative approach to web design and familiarity with trends in design and technology
• Collaborative; able to work well with small teams
• Ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Strong communications skills including detailed documentation writing, polite telephone manners and confident face-to-face communication abilities
• Fast learner, adaptive, and creative
• Strong inclination for self- improvement, to become a better developer

Preferred Attributes

• Working knowledge in multiple programming languages, technologies and software platforms, such as Linux, Bash, and JavaScript
• Excellent knowledge of cross-browsers incompatibilities
• Familiarity with tools like LESS and SASS
• A passion for the web and a keen ability to quickly learn new technologies
